Drama Group : Buidheann Dràma

The Drama Group was formed in the 1990s and aims to tap into the wealth of local myths, history, stories and songs in the creation of its performances.

We have recently produced two major community plays:

1. In 2001 we performed Buth Anna (co-written by Chris Spears and Barbara Hunter) in Berneray Community Hall over two nights, as part of the millennium celebrations. This involved over 40 participants from Berneray and North Uist and was funded from millennium lottery sources.

2. The second community play, Lights on Pabbay (written by Chris Spears), was performed in 2004 and involved 2 performances in Berneray Community Hall and 2 performances in Linaclete School Theatre. This was self-funded, to the tune of approximately £6,500, and involved participants from Berneray and the Uists.
