A gallery of historical sites and buildings on Berneray

Seal on a rock

Berneray has been occupied for many centuries. There is evidence of settlements from Viking periods, and well before.

Climbing the hills of Berneray is a particularly good way of viewing historical sites and buildings. As well as being able to see the remains of older buildings that are not so easy to visualise close-up, there are several ancient historical sites on the hilltops.
